Advisers Act Rule 204-2: what your firm must keep

Rule 204-2 under the Investment Advisers Act requires SEC-registered advisers to keep specified books and records, generally for five years with the first two in an appropriate office.

If an AI tool helps write a memo or screen a deal, the output and its basis can become part of your records. Vouch signs each output, links every figure to its source page and records who approved it.

Rule 204-2 does not mandate cryptographic signing or any specific technology. Retention and accessibility are the legal obligations.
